Two last-start winners are vying for favouritism in the 2025 Coolmore Classic betting markets as the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival continues at Rosehill Gardens this weekend. The Group 1 $1 million Coolmore Classic (1500m) has drawn a class field of fillies and mares.

Current Coolmore Classic odds at Ladbrokes have Chris Waller‘s Group 1 Surround Stakes winner, Lady Shenandoah, and Annabel Neasham & Rob Archibald‘s WA expat, Amelia’s Jewel, dominating the markets.

Lady Shenandoah, a Snitzel filly, has won her past four starts, including the Light Fingers/Surround Stakes double. She’s aiming to be the first three-year-old filly to win the Coolmore Classic since Typhoon Tracy in 2009.

“The Chris Waller trained Lady Shenandoah is out to be the first three-year-old filly to win the Coolmore Classic since Typhoon Tracy in 2009,” a racing analyst from Races.com.au confirmed.

Waller is seeking his third consecutive Coolmore Classic win, having trained Espiona (2023) and Zougotcha (2024). Lady Shenandoah is currently priced at $2.60 and will jump from barrier 13 after the withdrawal of stablemate Lazzura.

Amelia’s Jewel is the main threat, aiming to complete the Guy Walter Stakes/Coolmore Classic double, a feat last achieved by Krone in 2021. The $4 million earner has barrier six and will be ridden by Josh Parr. She has winning form up to 1800m and was a Group 1 runner-up in the Empire Rose, making the 1500m distance ideal.

“She boasts winning form up to 1800m and was a Group 1 runner-up at Flemington last Melbourne Cup Carnival in the Empire Rose making the 1500m distance second-up ideal for the dual The Quokka runner-up,” a racing expert noted of Amelia’s Jewel.

Waller also saddles up Olentia ($18), Scarlet Oak ($23), and Firestorm ($27). Firestorm, the last-start Millie Fox Stakes winner, is looking to repeat Zougotcha’s feat from last year.

“Zougotcha (2024) completed the Millie Fox Stakes / Coolmore Classic double for the stable last autumn and Firestorm looks the value looking to repeat the feat from the outside alley on just 51.5kg this Saturday,” a racing analyst said.

Lady Of Camelot ($7.50), trained by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott, and Coeur Volante ($9.50), ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, are also among the single-figure contenders. Lady Of Camelot is looking to return to winning form after three consecutive second-place finishes, including behind Lady Shenandoah. Coeur Volante is coming off a Group 3 win.

The 2025 Coolmore Classic promises to be a highly competitive race jumping at 4:35pm (AEDT) as Rosehill Race 8 on Saturday.
