The Annabel and Rob Archibald stable appears to hold the ace for this Saturday’s 2026 Golden Slipper Stakes, with their standout filly Chayan backed to outclass the boys in the world’s richest juvenile sprint.
Fresh off a dominant display in the Reisling Stakes, the I Am Invincible filly enters the $5 million Rosehill Gardens feature as the one to beat.
A capacity field of elite two-year-olds has been assembled for the Group 1 showdown over 1200m.
The Slipper’s roll of honor reads like a “who’s who” of Australian turf history, featuring icons such as Dance Hero (2004), Stratum (2005), Miss Finland (2006), Sepoy (2011), Capitalist (2016), Farnan (2020), and Shinzo (2023).
Fillies have dominated the landscape in recent years, with nine victors since 2010.
Following back-to-back wins by Lady Of Camelot (2024) and Marhoona (2025), Chayan is the punters’ elect to secure a rare hat-trick for the girls in 2026.
Her path to Slipper favouritism began in Melbourne, where she finished seventh in the Blue Diamond.
However, a trip north to Randwick on March 7 saw her find another gear, crushing her rivals in the Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) to break her maiden in emphatic style.
Having proven she can handle a high-pressure six furlongs, she now attempts to become the first horse since Estijaab (2018) to secure the coveted Reisling Stakes/Golden Slipper double.
Despite an awkward draw in gate 12, Ladbrokes has Chayan installed as the $4.80 favourite, with elite hoop Craig Williams booked for the mount.
Her primary threat in the market is the Bjorn Baker-trained Warwoven ($7), who must also contend with a wide alley in gate 14.
The Sword Of State colt is backing up just seven days after a polished victory in the Group 3 Pago Pago Stakes.
Rachel King stays in the saddle as the colt looks to emulate Shinzo (2023) by winning the Slipper on the one-week backup.
Baker also saddles up another live chance in Paradoxium ($7.50).
Despite being handed the nasty barrier 18, the Extreme Choice colt is in peak form following two consecutive wins, including a 1.5-length triumph in the Group 2 Todman Stakes.
Historically, the Todman has been a premier Slipper guide, most recently used by Farnan (2020) to claim the double.
The Melbourne raiders are well-represented by Guest House ($9) for the Price and Kent Jnr yard.
Drawing gate 10, the Home Affairs colt makes his Sydney debut after a brave third in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes.
The inclusion of jockey Zac Lloyd has provided plenty of confidence for those looking for interstate value.
Streisand ($10), prepared by Clinton McDonald, is another high-class filly looking to translate Victorian form to Rosehill.
The daughter of Magnus arrives with a picket fence next to her name after taking out the Blue Diamond Prelude/Group 1 double.
She’ll be partnered by Ben Melham as she chases her third straight win.
Rounding out the main chances is the Phillip Stokes-trained Stretan Ruler ($11).
The Wild Ruler colt has been a significant market mover since his blistering win in the Silver Slipper and looks to etch his name into the history books as the latest to successfully bridge the gap between the lead-ups and G1 glory.
The 2026 Golden Slipper Stakes is scheduled to run as Rosehill Race 8 at 4:35pm (AEDT).
