Jockey James McDonald steered Accession to a four and a quarter lengths win in an 1100m 2yo Handicap to take the Chris Waller trained colt’s record to two wins and a second from three race starts.

Bookies at Ladbrokes.com.au quickly wound Accession’s Golden Slipper price in from $51 to share the third line of betting at $15 behind the James Cummings trained pair of Tassort at $5 and Exhilarates at $10.

Sharing the $15 mark with Accession in the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Catch Me and Gary Portelli’s colt Time To Reign.

Waller is confident that Accession is up to Golden Slipper standard and the Brazen Beau colt will have his next race start in the $2m 2019 Inglis Millennium (1200m) at Warwick Farm on February 9.

“He is a definite Golden Slipper horse,” Waller said.

“This was his third run and he is improving all the time.

“Two-year-olds tell you where they want to go and if they are up to a tough campaign.

“He’s an exciting colt.”

“He will go to the Inglis Millenium, which is an interesting new concept. It’s a $2 million race and the reason this colt is in work. These sort of races bring out the good horses or have them racing for longer, which is good for our sport.’’

McDonald was very excited about the future prospects for Accession after the colt made it a one act affair over the concluding stages on Saturday.

“There are two two-year-olds I’ve ridden this season that have won like that, Tassort did exactly the same,’’ McDonald said.

“This colt (Accession) has won two and had to carry 2.5kg more than anything else – he shouldn’t have done that!’’

“What I loved about Accession was the way from the 400m to the winning post, there was no peak, he just kept building.’’

“He’s a very natural two-year-old, a push-button type, he’s very good.’’

Tassort scored by more than five lengths at his only race start in the $150,000 Golden Gift (1100m) at Rosehill on November 24 while Exhilarates scored her second win from four starts with a dominant victory in the $2m The Star Gold Coast Magic Millions 2yo Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast on January 12.
