2014 All Aged Stakes Tips: Rebel Dane The Horse To Beat

Rebel Dane is on top of the 2014 All Aged Stakes tips of Dominic Beirne, but the form expert admits that he is worried about a potential track bias at Royal Randwick tomorrow.

Former bookmaker Dominic Beirne believes that Rebel Dane is the horse to beat in the 2014 All Aged Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.

Rebel Dane returned to racing with an impressive second place finish behind Lankan Rupee in the Group 1 T.J. Smith Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on April 12 and has been well-backed to record his second win at Group 1 level in the All Aged Stakes this weekend.

Beirne told RSN this morning that Rebel Dane is clearly the horse to beat in the All Aged Stakes, but believes that jockey Glen Boss may have to work a bit of magic to get the son of California Dane across the line.

“We had bias last week and now they have the rail out another three metres,” Beirne said.

“Last week the bias was to be racing on the inside and if it is similar here Bossy is going to have to weave a bit of magic.

“Rebel Dane will have to be at his best.

“It boils down to price; I would have thought that if there is no bias then $2.5 is acceptable.

“If there is a bias in favor of them up on the lead he will be more like 5/2, but even then he would be backable.

“My gut feeling is that it is Rebel Dane’s race to lose and the value are the forgotten horses Tiger Tees and Shamexpress.”

Steps In Time is the expected leader of the 2014 All Aged Stakes field and is set to be the beneficiary of any bias that is in play at Royal Randwick tomorrow.

The Coolmore Classic winner has been backed into $5.50 to cap off her autumn campaign with another win at the highest level of racing, but Beirne said that he is happy to leave the talented mare out of his 2014 All Aged Stakes tips.

“On the face of it you would say this is a speed map special and on the figures she comes out a $4.50 chance,”

“My suspicion with her is that she gets to a point in her preparation and then falls apart.

“I’m not saying that she has fallen apart, but she has gone out for a spell running 8th, 13th, 4th, 8th, 8th and 12th.

“I wouldn’t be buying a ticket on it.”

Rebel Dane is currently available at 2014 All Aged Stakes odds of $2.80 and is a clear favourite from Weary ($5.50), Steps In Time ($5.50), Tiger Tees ($8.50), Hana’s Goal ($11) and Shamexpress ($11).
