Verry Elleegaant will be having her second start for Victoria’s leading trainer and Weir has reported that the Zed filly has come through her debut run for the stable in great shape.

“We were extremely happy with Verry Elleegant at her first run for us, she has held together well since that and I would expect her to be hitting the line well,” Weir told Racenet.

John Allen has retained the ride on Verry Elleegant after steering the filly into third place behind her stablemates Amphitrite and Krone in the Group 2 $200,000 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on October 6.

Verry Elleegant made up good ground from midfield last start and Allen will be able to give her every possible chance again from barrier two in the capacity sixteen horse field.

Pre-post betting for the Ethereal Stakes at Ladbrokes.com.au has Verry Elleegant as the short priced $2.25 favourite while Weir’s other runner Scenic Sight is marked as an $18 chance.

Apprentice Ben Allen gets the ride again on Scenic Sight after the pair teamed up for a win in a 1600m Class 1 at Ballarat and Weir admits the filly will be tested stepping up sharply in class.

“It’s a bit of a throw at the stumps but why not for a filly in winning form,” Weir said.

Scenic Sight will jump from the middle of the field after drawing barrier nine in the original draw.

The Mark Newnham trained Greysful Glamour is on the second line of betting at $4.20 while Aristia from the Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra stable, is the only other runner under the $10 mark at $7.50.
