Rejuvenated sprinter Ten Sovereigns might have paid for his ticket to Australia for a slot in the 2019 $14m The Everest (1200m) at Randwick on October 19 after an all the way win at Newmarket in England on Saturday.

Ten Sovereigns was well supported in the betting ring to start the equal second pick at 9-2 and after setting the pace for most of the way, ran away at the finish under the urgings of Ryan Moore to record a two and three quarter lengths win in the Group 1 £500,000 Darley July Cup Stakes (6 furlongs).

Coolmore share in the ownership of the Aidan O’Brien trained three year old and Tom Magnier of Coolmore Australia said that Ten Sovereigns is in line to fill Coolmore’s slot for The Everest.

“We’ve got horses here like Yes Yes Yes with Chris Waller, we are talking with (trainer) Wesley Ward in America but we’ll put Ten Sovereigns into the mix,’’ Magnier told Big Sports Breakfast Weekend on Sunday.

Ten Sovereigns is the winner of four of his six race starts which includes a victory in the Group 1 £275,000 Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes (6 furlongs) at Newmarket in England on September 29, 2018.

O’Brien had tested Ten Sovereigns over a mile but after the colt finished out of a place when fifth in the Group 1 £523,750 QIPCO 2000 Guineas Stakes (1 mile) at Newmarket in England on May 4, the Champion Irish trainer successfully brought him back to the sprinting distances.

Ten Sovereigns has been in included in the Everest betting at Ladbrokes.com.au at $15 in the market order that has the multiple Group 1 winner Santa Ana Lane as the $5.50 favourite.

The James Cummings trained Osborne Bulls is the second pick at $7 just ahead of Arcadia Queen and Pierata at $8.

The Anthony Freedman trained Santa Ana Lane is a five times Group 1 winner who is a last start winner over the same course and distance as The Everest when he overpowered his rival to win the Group 1 $2.5m Aquis T J Smith Stakes on Day One of The Championships on April 6.
