The Ciaron Maher-trained star filly Tempted is the hot favourite to secure a hat-trick of wins when she lines up in the Group 1 $1 million Golden Rose Stakes at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

The 1400m feature has attracted a small but high-quality field of just nine three-year-olds, with Tempted sitting atop the 2025 Golden Rose betting markets at $2.90 through Ladbrokes.
Tempted, a daughter of Street Boss, was a star as a juvenile, winning the Group 2 Percy Sykes Stakes and finishing an eye-catching third in the $5 million Golden Slipper.
She was equally impressive in her first start for trainer Maher, dominating the Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m).
All the money is now on her to relish the step up to 1400m and complete the Run To The Rose – Golden Rose Stakes double, a feat last achieved by Bivouac in 2019.
The main danger to Tempted is the Chris Waller-trained Wodeton ($4.80).
The son of Wotton Bassett, who finished second in the Golden Slipper as a juvenile, has had two solid runs as a three-year-old, with his most recent performance in the Run To The Rose impressing his jockey Jason Collett.
“He was great. Just had to give them a big start. Was back and wide but loved his last 150m,” Collett said.
Wodeton is set to get a dream run from barrier one with ace hoop James McDonald back aboard.
Waller has a strong hand in the race, saddling up four of the nine runners.
Along with Wodeton, his other contenders include the untapped The Autumn Sun colt Autumn Boy ($5.50) and Sixties ($14), who beat Autumn Boy home last start in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty Quality.
The early market mover in the race is Beiwacht, who has been heavily supported from $11 to $8.50.
The son of Waller’s 2019 champ Bivouac has run well in the traditional lead-ups, crossing third in the San Domenico and second in the Run To The Rose.
Maher runners bookend the Golden Rose betting markets as he also saddles up the rank outsider in the field, the Group 1-placed colt State Visit ($60).
The son of the late sire Wootton Bassett was runner-up in the Inglis Sires’ but has been left alone by punters after a flat first-up performance in the Run To The Rose.
The 2025 Golden Rose Stakes is scheduled as Rosehill Race 8 at 4:05 pm (AEST) on Saturday.
