Suavito heads the list of nominations for the 2016 Futurity Stakes

Last start Group 1 winner Suavito heads the list of seventeen nominations for the Group 1 $500,000 italktravel Futurity Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

The Nigel Blackiston trained Suavito collected her second Group 1 trophy with a first up win in the Group 1 $500,000 Ladbrokes C.F. Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on February 13.

The Thorn Park mare is now looking to win back to Futurity Stakes after beating Smokin’ Joey in the 2015 version.

Melbourne Cup winning trainer Darren Weir has nominated his three Group 1 winning sprinters Lucky Hussler, Stratum Star and Trust In A Gust who finished second, seventh and eighth respectively in the C.F Orr Stakes.

Kiwi four year old Turn Me Loose is also among the nominations for the Futurity Stakes and will be one of the main chances again after running a handy fourth first up to Suavito last Saturday week.

The Murray Baker trained Turn Me Loose excelled during the 2015 Melbourne Spring Carnival with a win in the Group 1 $1m Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington.

Caulfield trainer Robert Smerdon has nominated his smart Group 1 Myer Classic winning mare Politeness and prominent Sydney trainer Gerald Ryan will venture south with Solicit who has finished second at both her starts this campaign in the Group 2 $200,000 Expressway Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on January 30 and in the Group 2 $250,000 Optus Business Apollo Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on February 13.
