Sincero Included In Premiere Stakes Nominations

Sincero is set to return to the races for the first time in a year after he was included in the nominations for the 2014 Premiere Stakes.

Sincero has previously recorded Group 1 wins in the 2011 Stradbroke Handicap and the 2011 George Main Stakes.

Sincero has not been seen at the races since he finished 13th behind Boban in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Royal Randwick on October 5 due to injury, but the Umatilla gelding showed that he was ready for a return to racing when he finished second behind Santuario in a barrier trial over 1050 metres at Randwick on September 19.

The seven-year-old has not recorded a race win since he took out the Group 2 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 1 in 2012, but he has been plagued by injuries over the past two year and restricted to just nine race starts.

Sincero will need to be at his very best if he is going to return to racing with a win after a number of talented sprinters were included in the nominations for the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

Trainer Joe Pride elected to save Terravista for a tilt at the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on October 25, but he is still set to have two runners in the race after including Rain Affair and Tiger Tees in the nominations.

Rain Affair returned to a semblance of his best form with a third place finish behind Wouldnt It Be Nice and Nuclear Cass in the Group 3 Concorde Stakes (1000m) at Royal Randwick on September 6 and he showed his trademark speed to score a dominant six lengths win in a barrier trial over 800 metres at Warwick Farm on September 26.

Tiger Tees started his 2014 Spring Racing Carnival with a tough win in the Group 3 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on August 9 and took out the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) on August 23 before he was denied a third straight win by Lucia Valentina in the Group 2 Tramway Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick on September 6.

Leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller won the 2013 edition of the Premiere Stakes with Arinosa and he included Heart Testa, Velrosso and Whittington in the nominations for the $200,000 edition of the race, while Group 1 winner Famous Seamus is set to contest the race after he resumed with a fast-finishing third behind Terravista in the Group 2 The Shorts (1100m) at Royal Randwick on September 20.
