Serene Majesty Too Good in Thoroughbred Club Stakes

Quality filly Serene Majesty has continued to display her worth at Caulfield Racecourse this afternoon; producing a huge turn of foot in the final straight to take out the Group 3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m).

Serene Majesty faced a tough task in the Thoroughbred Club Stakes after drawing the reasonably wide barrier 8, but did her chances for success absolutely no hard when jumping from the gates well.

Jockey Kerrin McEvoy allowed Serene Majesty to stride forward and settle in ideal position within the field of nine; allowing early leaders Secret Agenda, Serenade and Invincible Heart to set a reasonable tempo.

McEvoy elected to peel the filly off the rails and wide rounding onto the final straight; Serene Majesty immediately responding when asked for an extra effort and comfortably overcoming her rivals to post a career-best win to date.

McEvoy delivered a perfectly-timed ride aboard Serene Majesty for success this afternoon and was quick to lay all the praise on the impressive nature of the three-year-old.

“We went in with a plan to get a little bit of cover because there looked to be a bit of pressure in the race on paper,”

“It turned out they ran along quite quickly so I didn’t expect to be that far back but at the 400m when I pressed the button I knew I had them rounded up.

“She’s got a big action for a little filly and it’s great to get a win out of her here. There will be another race for her during the carnival, that’s for sure.”

Trainer Peter Snowden was thrilled with Serene Majesty’s performance in the 2015 Thoroughbred Club Stakes and revealed he will likely look towards a race like the Group 3 Gucci Stakes (1100m) on Crown Oaks Day as her next competitive point of call.

“She was a touch slow and she does tend to overdo things early,” Snowden said.

“She got a bit lost here for the first time but relaxed so well and I knew she was going to kick somewhere it was just whether she switched on quick enough in the straight.

“Kerrin gave her a reminder at the corner, she picked up and she was awesome late.

“I think she’s got good talent and she’s only lightly-raced. There is a fair bit of upside to her and I think she’s a next time through filly when she fully matures.

“We’ll have a think about it tomorrow. There is another race for her during Cup week but we’ll see how things go.”

In taking out the 2015 Thoroughbred Club Stakes, Serene Majesty has now posted two wins and a minor through only four career starts.
