Savanna Amour was having her second run back from a spell when she scored a well-deserved win in the Listed $100,000 Makers Mark Hinkler Handicap (1200m) at Doomben last Saturday and trainer Chris Meagher immediately pencilled in the Group 1 for the fillies and mares.

“She wasn’t fully wound up today and there’s still improvement to come so its full steam ahead now to the Tatt’s Tiara,” Meagher said.

“I’m extremely excited about the Tatt’s Tiara. She’s had two Group 2’s and two Group 3’s and we’re now after that elusive Group 1.”

Savanna Amour had no wet track form heading into the Hinkler Handicap but handled the heavy Doomben track okay to record a half a length win over Missile Coda and Sony Legend to record her seventh win from sixteen starts.

The Love Conquers All mare has performed well in two Melbourne campaigns with a win in the Group 2 $200,000 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield during the 2017 Autumn Carnival and a win in the Group 3 $150,000 Ladbrokes Cockram Stakes (1200m) and the Group 3 $150,000 Ladbrokes Odds Boost Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield during the 2017 Spring Carnival.

Savanna Amour is currently marked as a $10 chance for the Tattersall’s Club Tiara with Ladbrokes.com.au while the Stradbroke Handicap third placegetter Champagne Cuddles heads the betting at $6 just ahead of Moss Trip at $7.

Bjorn Baker’s three year old filly Champagne Cuddles put in a brave effort against the more seasoned sprinters with a third behind Santa Ana Lane and Super Cash in last Saturday’s Group 1 $1.5m Stradbroke Handicap (1350m) at Doomben.

The Peter and Paul Snowden trained Moss Trip also put in a solid effort with a third behind Invincibella and Prompt Response in the Group 2 $200,000 Bundaberg Rum Dane Ripper Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday.

Prompt Response ($9), Invincibella ($10) and Super Cash ($10) are also likely to line up in the Tattersall’s Club Tiara.
