The final field of twelve sprinters has been assembled for The Everest with Ladbrokes.com.au listing the two timed winner Redzel as a $10 chance behind the Group 1 winners Santa Ana Lane at $4.40 and Pierata and Arcadia Queen at $5.50.

As well as the top twelve slots, the Australian Turf Club has listed four emergencies, Brutal, Home Of The Brace, Champagne Cuddles and Brave Song, with those four horses also nominated for the Group 3 $500,000 Camera House Sydney Stakes (1200m).

The barrier draw for the 2019 The Everest will be held at Racing NSW offices at 5pm today, Tuesday, and keep under wraps until they are choreographed onto the pillars of the Sydney Harbour Bridge on Tuesday night.

Redzel has won the only two runnings of The Everest in 2017 and 2018 and jumped from barriers four and one respectively and co-trainer Peter Snowden is hoping for another single digit barrier, but knows his luck might have run out.

“Barrier one to five would be great. We have had it twice now and it is a bit much to ask and my reputation for barriers isn’t that good, I know how to draw barrier nineteen. So we have probably used up all of our luck,” Peter Snowden said.

“An inside gate would definitely be an advantage to him.”

“We are happy with the horse, He is in really really good order,”

“He is moving freely, his action is great, his coat is fantastic but whatever happens with the barrier draw and the weather, that is what we can’t handle.”

Redzel has had two runs back from a spell in preparation for his third start in The Everest and resumed from a win in the Group 3 $160,000 Forum Concorde Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on September 7 followed by a third to Pierata in the Group 2 $500,000 Bowermans Office Furniture Shorts (1100m) at Randwick on September 21.

Co-trainers Peter and Paul Snowden then took Redzel to Gosford for a 1000m barrier trial win to keep the millionaire sprinter ticking over.
