Proisir joined the stable of Team Snowden last year after being unable to get back to the races under the care of Peter Moody during to a second significant tendon injury and he made his first public appearance in over a year when he finished fourth behind Mardi in a barrier trial over 734 metres at Royal Randwick on November 17.

The Choisir entire hit the line strongly without being asked for an extra effort by jockey Hugh Bowman and Snowden was impressed with the trial, but indicated that he was still taking things extremely slowly with the five-year-old.

Snowden was asked about the progress of Proisir when he appeared on Racing Ahead this morning and he told host Shane Anderson that connections had been forced to retire the Group 1 placegetter due to another tendon injury.

“He has gone to the breeding barn,” Snowden said.

“We had another issue with his tendon again.

“He was coming along extremely well and I was really excited about him, but he has gone to the breeding barn.”

Proisir made his racing debut under the care of Gai Waterhouse in August of 2012 and he started his career with a win in a maiden at Hawkesbury before he beat Norzita to take out the TVN Jockeys Trust (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on September 1.

The talented entire stamped himself as a genuine Group 1 contender when he recorded a dominant six lengths in in the Group 3 Spring Stakes (1600m) at Newcastle on September 19, but he suffered his first defeat when he was upset by It’s A Dundeel as a short-priced favourite in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Royal Randwick on October 6 before he finished a credible eighth in the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 27.

Proisir returned to the races with a third place finish in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens during the 2013 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival, but his campaign had a premature end when he suffered a tendon injury following his second place finish in the Group 1 Royal Randwick Guineas (1600m).

He was transferred to the care of Peter Moody in April of 2013 and set for the 2013 Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, but he suffered a second, more serious tendon injury that virtually ended his racing career.

Proisir finished his racing career with four wins from seven race starts and accumulated just under $500,000 in prizemoney for connections.
