The Gerald Ryan trained Menari drew barrier eleven of eleven with Josh Parr retaining the ride after steering the Snitzel colt to a first up win in the Listed $150,000 Smithfield RSL Club Rosebud (1100m) at Rosehill on August 12.

Ryan said that Menari has progressed well since his impressive first up win and after giving some thought of trialling him over 900m at Rosehill last Monday, decided that the colt will head into The Run To The Rose without the trial.

“He has done very well since the Rosebud and has done well enough that I didn’t trial him this morning (Monday),” Ryan told AAP.

“He didn’t need it.”

The main danger to Menari in The Run To The Rose will be the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Pariah who scored an ultra-impressive first up win in the Group 3 $150,000 TPG Telecom San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on August 26.

Pariah is certain to get the run of the race from barrier three with Blake Shinn in the saddle again after the pair combined so successfully in the San Domenico Stakes.

Team Snowden will also saddle up Invader with Hugh Bowman to ride from barrier nine.

Invader was one of the star two year olds during the 2017 Sydney Autumn Carnival with a win in the Group 1 $1m Inglis Sires’ (1400m) at Randwick on April 1 and resumed from a break for a first up sixth to Deploy in the Group 3 $150,000 Suttons Show County Quality (1200m) at Randwick on August 19.

The Hawkes Team of John, Michael and Wayne will be represented by Chauffeur in The Run To The Rose and the Snitzel colt has drawn nicely at gate two with Brenton Avdulla booked to ride.

Avdulla will be having his second race ride on Chauffeur after the pair combined for a second to Pariah in the San Domenico Stakes.

Godolphin trainer James Cummings will saddle up the smart Lonhro colt Kementari who has drawn barrier seven with the in-form Kerrin McEvoy to ride.

Sydney’s leading trainer Chris Waller will have two runners in The Run To The Rose, Tangled (Tye Angland, barrier 1) and Qiji Phoenix (Glyn Schofield, barrier 6).
