It’s A Dundeel Produces Dominant Rosehill Guineas Win

It’s A Dundeel has produced a thrilling perfomance in today’s Group 1 Rosehill Guineas, winning the race by an extraordinary five and three quarter lengths.

The colt was forced to settle second last when Hvasstan attempted to push It’s A Dundeel into an unfavourable position on the rail.

However, the three-year-old never looked in trouble as he travelled wide around the home turn and out-sprinted his seven other Rosehill Guineas rivals.

Fellow New Zealander Sacred Falls placed well back in second, while Tatra rounded out the placings in third position.

Trainer Murray Baker was at the track to witness It’s A Dundeel’s dominate Rosehill Guineas win.

“He’s been working very well and i think he’s kept improving since the spring,” Baker said.

“That was a brilliant win.

“He’s got that big sprint and he can sustain it.

“I didn’t want him to get caught on the fence.”

It’s A Dundeel will now head on towards the Group 1 ATC Australian Derby at Royal Randwick Racecourse on April 13, 2013.

“The Derby’s been the mission right through,” Baker said.

Jockey James McDonald rated It’s A Dundeel as the best horse he has ever had the pleasure of riding.

“It’s hard enough winning a race let alone Group 1’s like that,” McDonald said.

“It was breathtaking.

“He’s definitely the best horse I’ve sat on.

“My horse was clearly the best horse and it would have been good if Fiveandahalfstar ran.

“He found the line strong, real strong.”
