Injury Ravished Costa In The Glen To Make Career Comeback

Injury plagued Costa In The Glen will resume his racing career at Caulfield this Saturday after having 19 months off with feet problems.

The six-year-old has only has eight race starts during his career, of which he has won four.

Recommencing under new trainer Kelvin Bourke, Costa In The Glen will be hoping to make an impressive comeback.

“He’s had multiple problems and to use an old cliche, we’re just taking it one run at a time,” Bourke said.

Bourke said that Costa In The Glen has been injury free for the past three months.
“His main problem was his feet but they have been good for the last three months,” Bourke said.

“He’ll probably never be as good as what he was but in saying that he looks terrific and he’s done a lot of work down at the beach.”

The trainer has employed a variety of techniques to get Costa In The Glen back in shape.

“Some days he goes on the treadmill,” Bourke said.

“He does a bit of everything, I’ve had him in work for six months.”

Bourke is hoping the horse will improve a great deal from having a proper run this weekend.

“I’d say he’d be nice and bouncy for the 1000 metres on Saturday,” he said.

“He’ll probably run all right but the gallop will do him good.”
