Co-trainer David Eustace expects unbeaten two year old Ideas Man to make an impact in the betting for the 2020 Blue Diamond Stakes with a first class performance in the Group 3 $160,000 Lamaro’s Hotel Sth Melbourne Chairman’s Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

Ideas Man is currently marked at $19 at Ladbrokes.com.au for the 2020 Group 1 $1.5m Ned Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 22 but is the $4 second favourite for the Chairman’s Stakes this weekend.

“His work has been really good,” Eutace said.

The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace trained Ideas Man was spelled after his debut win in the $500,000 Inglis Banner (1000m) at The Valley on October 26 and Eustace said that the Brazen Beau colt has developed well during his time in the spelling paddock.

“I think he’s improved a lot physically. He has really strengthened up,” Eustace said.

“It’s hard to weigh up that race (Inglis Banner). History tells you it’s probably not that strong but I thought he was pretty impressive and I really like the way he has matured physically.

Top Melbourne jockey Mark Zahra rode Ideas Man to victory in the Inglis Banner and he gets the mount again on the colt who will jump from gate three in the ten horse field.

The Lindsay Park trained Aryaaf heads the Chairman’s Stakes betting at Ladbrokes.com.au at $2.90 and will jump from barrier two with Luke Nolen in charge of the reins.

Aryaaf is also the winner of his only race start in the Group 3 $200,000 Darley Ottawa Stakes (1000m) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day last year.

On the third line of betting at $7 is the Mick Price and Michael Kent trained Rock Of Kryptonite just ahead of Grahame Begg’s well performed filly Mildred at $8.

The Anthony Freedman trained Blue Diamond Preview winner Hanseatic heads up the Blue Diamond Stakes betting at Ladbrokes.com.au at $3.50 ahead of the Peter and Paul Snowden trained pair of Rulership at $7 and Fresh at $9.
