Shamurt is one of eighteen two year olds nominated for the Dalrello Stakes and will being taking on the Ben Currie trained pair of Mishani Hustler and Cuddle Me Tight.

Gollan has mapped out a Brisbane Winter Carnival plan for his star two year old who in the winner of her two race starts to date with a win over 1050m at Doomben on March 24 followed by a win over 1100m at Toowoomba on Weetwood Handicap Day on April 7.

Shamurt’s Brisbane Winter Carnival campaign is likely to include the Group 2 $175,000 Moet & Chandon Champagne Classic (1200m) at Doomben on May 12 followed two weeks later by the Group 2 $250,000 Mitavite BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1350m) at Doomben.

“She was on the water walker before she came back into the stable so that has kept her up to the mark,” Gollan told AAP.

“I was going to go straight into the (Group Two) Champagne Classic on Doomben 10,000 day but I thought if I drew a bad barrier that day it would be a setback for the rest of the winter.

“I am keen to get her out to the 1200 metres and then the 1350 of the Sires’. This seems the best way to go.

“I have some nice two-year-olds for the winter and I just hope my run of recent seconds changes to winners soon.”

The Ben Currie trained Mishani Hustler is the top rated two year old in the Dalrello Stakes with three wins from four race starts to his credit.

Mishani Hustler is a two time winner over the 1200m at Doomben and will head back there following his win in the $70,000 QTIS 2yo Handicap (1200m) at the Sunshine Coast on Princess Stakes Day on April 14 while Currie’s other Dalrello Stakes entry, Cuddle Me Tight, has been to the races once for a second to Shamurt in Toowoomba.

Chris Waller has nominated Orcein for the Dalrello Stakes and while the Snitzel filly is yet to win a race, she has collected a minor prizemoney cheque from her three race starts for a third and a second at Rosehill followed by a fourth in the Group 3 $200,000 B.J. McLachlan Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on December 30.
