Go Indy Go will make her Group 1 debut in the 2014 Champagne Stakes at Royal Randwick on Saturday and trainer Leon Macdonald is hopeful that the talented filly can maintain her consistent form.

Go Indy Go made her racing debut with a second place finish in the Listed Cinderella Stakes (1050m) at Morphettville on March 10 and finished second behind London Lolly in the Group 3 Breeders’ Stakes (1200m) at the same venue on March 29 before earning a trip to Sydney for the Champagne Stakes with a dominant win in the Group 3 South Australian Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) on April 12.
MacDonald told Sky Racing HQ that he has always had a good opinion of Go Indy Go and he believes that she deserves a chance at Group 1 level in the 2014 Champagne Stakes field this weekend.
“It’s her first preparation and she has done well in Adelaide,” MacDonald said.
“We decided if she won the Sires in good style that we would have one last throw at the stumps in the Champagne and that’s what happened.
“She probably has got the fresh legs on the scene, there is no doubt about that, and we just have to hope they go fast enough.
“It is a lovely race to run in and hopefully she can continue on where she left off.”
Go Indy Go arrived in Sydney at the end of last week and Macdonald said that the daughter of Bernardini has had no problems settling into her new environment.
She will be having her first race start the Sydney way of going in the Champagne Stakes, but Macdonald is confident that the professional filly will handle it in her stride this weekend.
“She has done extremely well,” Macdonald said.
“She left here on Thursday night and was there on Friday morning.
“She is a real workmanlike little thing and she does everything pretty correctly.
“She is the ideal horse to take away.
“Last Wednesday morning she worked the opposite way here at Morphettville and she had a gallop around on Tuesday morning and she did seem to handle it ok.”
Go Indy Go is currently available at 2014 Champagne Stakes odds of $8; with Sires Produce Stakes winner Peggy Jean ($2.80) currently a narrow favourite from Brent Stanley-trained Veuvelicious ($3.20) and last start winner Bachman ($5).
