Dracarys finished over the top of his rivals to record an impressive victory in the 2017 Up And Coming Stakes at Royal Randwick this afternoon.
Trapeze Artist and Sanctioned fought for the lead in the early stages of the Up And Coming Stakes, which ensured that the race was set up for the swoopers in the form of Dracarys and Gold Standard.
Gold Standard hit the front at the 100 metre mark, but it was Dracarys that was always finishing strongest and he found the line impressively to record the biggest win of his racing career to date.
Co-trainer Paul Snowden said after the race that Dracarys has return as a much stronger horse as a three-year-old and he believes that the talented colt is in for a big 2017 Spring Racing Carnival campaign.
“It is all about finding his niche and we will see how far he wants,” Snowden said.
“Compared to last preparation, he is a completely different animal.
“All he wants to do is relax and work with you.
“We will see if he can get up to a mile and we will see what happens.
“We are very happy with what we have been seeing at home and it was no fluke the other day.
“I was confident that he could win today.
“His price tag suggests that he is going to be good and he was just doing that on raw ability his first preparation.”
Gold Standard missed the start slightly and that may have cost him the race, while Sanctioned was able to cling-on for third.
