Doubtfilly will make her debut for the Danny O’Brien stable when she contests Heat Six of the All Victorian Sprint Series at Flemington tomorrow and the leading Melbourne trainer sees no reason why she can’t run well in the $100,000 race.

Doubtfilly, who was previously prepared by Stuart Kendrick in Queensland, was purchased by B2b Bloodstock for $300,000 at the 2014 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast, and is set to race on until at least the end of the racing season.
O’Brien told Racing Ahead that Doubtfilly had joined his stable less than a fortnight ago and he said that he had done very little with the Not A Single Doubt mare heading into the All Victorian Sprint Series this weekend.
“Obviously she has only been with us for ten days, she was brought at the mares sale at the Gold Coast for a client of mine and she has arrived in good shape,” O’Brien said.
“We keep it pretty simple with them when they first get here.
“We obviously let them adjust to the new surroundings and particularly when they arrive race fit you don’t need to overwork them.
“She has had one little gallop here on Tuesday morning and has just been allowed to enjoy herself and relax.
“She has done all that and she came to us in good order, so we are hoping that she can race well.”
Doubtfilly started her 2014 Brisbane Winter Racing campaign with a fast-finishing third behind Pure Purrfection and Metallurgical in the Listed Bribie Handicap (1110m) at Doomben on May 10 and was from far from disgraced behind Sacred Star in the Group 2 QTC Cup (1300m) at Eagle Farm on May 31.
Based on that form the four-year-old should be more than competitive in the All Victorian Sprint Series and O’Brien is expecting her to run well, especially if the showers forecast in Melbourne tomorrow hit the Flemington track.
“If we got any sort of rain, her form certainly does improve the softer that the ground does get,” O’Brien said.
“I can’t see why she can’t run well.”
Doubtfilly made her racing debut at the end of 2011 and won three races in a row in Brisbane as a two-year-old to earn a shot in Sydney where she finished fourth in the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) before finishing fourth behind Pierro, Snitzerland and Samaready at big odds in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m).
She has been unable to replicate that level of performance as an older horse, but scored her maiden black type victory in the Listed Ascot Handicap (1200m) at Eagle Farm in July last year.
