Disposition will head to the 2015 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield in a fortnight after he returned to racing with a comfortable victory in the 2015 The Sofitel at Flemington this afternoon.

Disposition was settled in a perfect position by jockey Damien Oliver in the early stages of the race and the Group 1 placegetter cantered to the lead when he was exposed at the top of the straight before he hit the line strongly to record a very easy win from Akavoroun and Pressing.
The Reset gelding was having his first race start for Team Freedman and Hall Of Fame trainer Lee Freedman revealed after The Sofitel that Disposition would return to Group 1 level for the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 26 and the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) at the same venue a fortnight later.
“To my eye he looked like he was getting a bit tired too because he was first-up for a few eyes, but he is a really high class horse and he can only improve on that going forward,” Freedman said.
“Whilst he is around that mark, something like the Sir Rupert Clarke in two weeks and then maybe the Toorak after that would be a really good race for him.
“He did what I hoped I would see because he has shown me things that only good horses show you.
“He will gain in fitness from that, which will be important going forward.”
Disposition mapped to get a dream run in The Sofitel and jockey Damien Oliver admitted after the race that he could not have asked for a better run in transit.
Oliver believes that Disposition will take plenty of improvement out of his The Sofitel victory and he believes that the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and the Toorak Handicap are the perfect races for the Group 1 placegetter.
“It went perfectly really,” Oliver said.
“We lobbed into a good spot, he was just jogging coming into the turn and I popped him out and it was just a matter of letting him go through his gears.
“I think there is more improvement to come from him.
“He is a smart horse going forward.”
Disposition was having his first race start since he was beaten as favourite in the Group 3 Victoria Handicap (1400m) at Caulfield on April 4 and he has also been included in the nominations for the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m), Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) and Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m).
