Capacity field for 2017 Scone Cup

A capacity field of sixteen will line up in Friday’s Listed $200,000 Scone Cup (1600m) at the stand alone metropolitan class meeting at Scone.

As well as a final field of sixteen, there are four emergencies with third reserve Reiby The Red drawing the outside barrier of twenty.

Equal top weight Fabrizio has drawn nicely at barrier four while Mighty Lucky also with 59kg will jump from next to him at gate three.

Jockey Jason Collett steered the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Fabrizio to an all the way win in the Group 3 $200,000 Livamol Hawkesbury Gold Cup (1600m) at Hawkesbury on April 29 and will have no trouble adopting the same tactics from a favourable barrier.

The Fred Cowell trained Mighty Lucky is struggling to find his best form and was beaten two and a half lengths last start when seventh to Fabrizio in the Hawkesbury Gold Cup.

Newly appointed Godolphin trainer Darren Beadman will saddle up two runners in the Scone Cup with Moher, barrier nine, and Duca Valentinois, barrier five, both having their last runs in the Hawkesbury Gold Cup.

Moher will meet Fabrizio 1.5kg better in the Scone Cup after being beaten a length when second in the Hawkesbury Gold Cup while Duca Valentinois has almost four and a half lengths to make up after finishing tenth.

The Chris Waller trained Amovatio has a tough first up assignment in the Scone Cup after drawing barrier nineteen and will probably jump from the outside gate when the field is reduced to the final sixteen at start time.

The locals will be cheering for the Mary Moses trained It’s A Shamozzle who just scraped into the field and will carry the number sixteen saddlecloth.

It’s A Shamozzle has  drawn barrier six in the original draw and will be ridden by regular partner Vad Bolozhinskyi who steered the six year old to successive wins at Scone and Tamworth before a last start sixth in the $100,000 Tamworth Cup (1400m) on April 30.

Deanne Panya will likely go forward on Testashadow who draw barrier seventeen in the Scone Cup in the original barrier draw but could jump from fourteen.

Testashadow raced on the pace when a fading eighteenth to It’s Somewhat in the Group 1 $3m The Star Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick on April 1 but then found the drop in class more to his liking when third to Fabrizio in the Hawkesbury Gold Cup.

Group 1 winner Famous Seamus is also coming off a run in the Hawkesbury Gold Cup when ninth and has drawn nicely at gate seven with Jay Ford in the saddle again.
