Stand in jockey Tim Clark only picked up the ride on the Chris Munce trained Boomsara after last start winning jockey Damian Browne was rushed to hospital on Thursday night and underwent emergency abdominal surgery.

Clark made every post a winner and let Boomsara slide to the front from a wide barrier to dictate the pace of the race.

Clark had Boomsara ($3.80) travelling smoothly as heads turned for home but was quickly challenged by the Peter And Paul Snowden trained Bondi ($10) who had been tracking Boomsara all the way.

Half way down the straight Bondi actually put his head in front but Boomsara was able to fight back and get the better of Bondi with the $2.25 favourite Outback Barbie challenging late to fill third place, a nose and a nose behind the winner.

Munce had plenty of confidence in Boomsara and knew that the other runners would have a tough task to get past him.

“I knew they wouldn’t get by him when he was in front travelling as easy as he was at the 1200m,” Munce said.

“He travelled nice. Timmy rated him beautifully. He had to stoke him up from the 600m which was the right thing to do on him. I am just so thrilled.”
