The 2026 Randwick Guineas betting markets have transformed into a classic “Colts vs. Fillies” showdown, with bookmakers and bettors struggling to split the gifted Sheza Alibi and Chris Waller’s high-class colt Autumn Boy in the $1 million classic.

As one of two Group 1 highlights on Saturday’s Royal Randwick program, the Randwick Guineas (1600m) features a select field of nine elite three-year-olds.

Historically a springboard for future champions, this year’s market at Ladbrokes is topped by the remarkably consistent Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman-trained filly, Sheza Alibi, who currently sits at $2.50.

Historical Stat: It has been 14 years since Mosheen (2012) became the last filly to secure the Randwick Guineas. Sheza Alibi is currently the firm favourite to end that drought this weekend.

Sheza Alibi enters the race seeking her fourth consecutive victory.

She capped off a stellar spring with back-to-back wins in the Group 3 The Vanity and the Group 2 Sandown Guineas.

She didn’t miss a beat upon her return on Blue Diamond Day at Caulfield, delivering a dominant performance to take out the Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes by over two lengths.

With five wins from just eight career starts, she makes her Sydney debut in peak condition.

She reunites with her regular rider from the spring, Luke Nolen, from barrier four and presents as a significant threat to her male counterparts.

The primary challenger is the highly rated, Autumn Boy, who will jump from barrier three with champion jockey James McDonald in the saddle.

A son of 2019 Randwick Guineas winner The Autumn Sun, Autumn Boy is already a proven Group 1 performer at this distance, having captured the Caulfield Guineas in the spring.

Boasting a 50% winning strike rate, he caught the eye when resuming in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill.

Forced to cover extra ground from a wide alley, he worked home strongly to finish third behind Ninja.

The progression to 1600m second-up appears ideal for the colt as he looks to add a second Group 1 to his resume.

Meanwhile, Michael Freedman’s Hobartville Stakes winner, Ninja ($6.50), is aiming to become the second horse in three years to complete the Hobartville/Randwick Guineas double, following Celestial Legend (2024).

The ultra-reliable son of Farnan has never finished out of the placings in seven starts.

After a busy campaign that included a second in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas, the challenge for Ninja will be overcoming a potentially difficult map to maintain his winning momentum against fresh opposition.

Rounding out the contenders under double-figure odds is the Joseph Pride-trained Attica ($9), who looms as a dangerous “value” play.

The Lonhro colt is a Randwick specialist, remaining undefeated in two starts at the track.

His spring highlights included a two-length win in the Listed Dulcify at this course and distance, followed by a victory in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes.

He returned with a solid fourth in the Hobartville Stakes, and like the favourites, he is expected to relish the step up to the mile where his superior stamina can come into play.

The 2026 Randwick Guineas is scheduled as Race 8 at 4:35pm (AEDT) during Saturday’s ten-race card.
