2017 CF Orr Stakes Day Results: Black Heart Bart Claims Another Group 1

2017 Ladbrokes CF Orr Stakes Day at Caulfield is headlined by the year’s first Group 1 race and boasts a total of nine talent-rich races; eight of which will be contested at black type level.

Danny O’Brien has saddled an impressive quinella in race 1 on 2017 CF Orr Stakes Day as Second Bullet led home De Little Engine to comfortably win TheBigScreenCompany.com.au.

Second Bullet jumped from the barriers well and was settled within the field of noted stayers early, as Our Bottino, Prima and Signoff set the early pace.

Jockey Damien Lane led the Encosta De Lago gelding forward rounding onto the final straight and was greeted with a smart turn of foot with 200m, as Second Bullet jogged clear to record the comfortable three length victory.

“After his trial at Geelong I was confident he’d run well fresh,” Lane said after the race.

“Thanks for Danny O’Brien and his team for having him ready to run well today.”

Oak Door has led from start to finish to win the Autumn Stakes from the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Attention and Knowable.

Oak Door received plenty of attention in betting markets leading up to this afternoon’s Group 2 and the horse did his chances of justifying the trend no harm when jumping well and easily crossing the field to take up the early pace.

Offered a clear racing line upon arriving at the final straight, the Commands colt immediately responded when asked for an extra effort and pulled clear; maintaining well enough to the line to record a maiden black type win.

Jockey Damien Lane completed a racing double after piloting Second Bullet to success in race 1.

Race 3 (1:40pm) Group 2 Blue Diamond Prelude F Results

Catchy has continued her perfect career start with a perfectly timed sprint to beat Limestone on the line in the Group 2 Blue Diamond Prelude F this afternoon.

Catchy started the Blue Diamond Prelude F as a clear race favourite, but was settled within the field of fillies as Artic Angel and Pandemonium flew the barriers and ensured the race would be run at a genuine tempo.

Faced with plenty to do upon arriving at the final straight, the Fastnet Rock filly stormed home down the outside of the field to beat Limestone on the line in a photo finish.

Property has sustained a strong-enough sprint in the final straight to hold off a fast finishing Pariah in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude C&G.

Property carried winning form into this afternoon’s Prelude race after winning the Blue Diamond Preview C&G (1000m) a fortnight ago and jockey Craig Williams found a good position within the field of thirteen this afternoon.

Hitting the fore of the field rounding onto the final straight, Property kicked clear and had opened a good enough lead to eventually hit the line half a length after of Pariah, who arguably produced the run of the race to finish second.

Race 5 (2:50pm) Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes Results

Craig Williams has continued an impressive run of CF Orr Stakes Day results; claiming a third win of the card aboard Fuhryk in the Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes.

Fuhryk was drawn to receive the run of the race in barrier 6 and Williams used the gate to his advantage when the filly jumped well and took an ideal position just off the strong early pace of Special Diva, Dimoshot and Selenia.

Finding a clear line upon arriving at the final straight, Fuhryk put away a talented field of fillies with complete ease to record a maiden black type win.

Super Cash recorded the best win of her racing career with a strong performance for success in the Group 2 Rubiton Stakes.

Super Cash was rated an outright for success in a Rubiton Stakes field that included the likes of Chautauqua, Hellbent and Wild Rain, but the mare flew the gates and took an ideal position on pace from the outset.

Offered a clear racing line upon arriving at the final straight, the daughter of Written Tycoon easily pulled clear to beat I Am A Star and Chautauqua.

Race 7 (4:05pm) Group 1 Ladbrokes CF Orr Stakes Results

Black Heart Bart has turned in another scintillating performance to win the 2017 Ladbrokes CF Orr Stakes (1400m) from a brave Turn Me Loose.

Black Heart Bart was yet to taste anything but success on the Caulfield 1400m course, but he undoubtedly faced his biggest test to date from barrier 11 and amongst the talented CF Orr Stakes field.

After receiving a good run in transit off the pace of Turn Me Loose and Malguerra, the Blackfriars gelding mustered a huge turn of foot in the final straight and motored home down the outside of the field; pulling a head clear of Turn Me Loose and an impressive Ecuador.

Race 8 (4:45pm) Group 3 Carlyon Cup Results

Burning Front has led from start to finish to win the Group 3 Carlyon Cup (1600m) at Caulfield Racecourse this afternoon.

Burning Front was able to find the pace with ease in the Carlyon Cup and the Darren Weir-trained galloper experienced an easy run in transit before arriving at the final straight.

Jockey Brad Rawiller allowed the gelding plenty of time to balance before he asked for an extra effort and the horse responded with a big run; opening a big enough gap to win the race from Humidor, despite tiring late.

Race 9 (5:25pm) Group 3 Bellmaine Stakes Results

Prussian Vixen has held on in the dying stages of the Group 3 Bellmaine Stakes to deliver Mornington trainer Michael Mehegan his first ever black type winner.

Prussian Vixen was immediately led to the fore of the Bellmaine Stakes field by jockey Jake Noonan and set a fair tempo in transit, alongside the likes of Thames Court and Choose.

Hugging the rail rounding onto the final straight, Prussian Vixen stormed clear of her talented rivals and followed the tone of the day by holding on in the final stages of the race to beat a fast-finishing Silent Sedition on the line.
