2016 Toorak Handicap Tips: He’s Our Rokkii the one to beat

He’s Our Rokkii is on top of the 2016 Toorak Handicap tips of Deane Lester and the form expert believes that the four-year-old is a worthy favourite in the Group 1 event at Caulfield today

The former New Zealand trained four year old is lining up for his fifth win on the trot and jockey Dwayne Dunn is certain to give him the run of the race from the inside barrier.

He’s Our Rokkii is set to make his Australian Group 1 debut and he takes stellar form into the Toorak Handicap after taking out both the Catanach’s Jewellers Handicap (1400m) at Caulfield on August 27 and the Sheen Grounp Handicap (1400m) at the same venue on September 17.

Lester could not have been more impressed with the way that He’s Our Rokkii found the line last start and with even luck he believes that the son of Roc De Cambes will be extremely tough to beat in the Toorak Handicap.

“He had to wait, bide his time and run again at 1400 last time and he still ran away from his rivals,” Lester told RSN.

“He drops in weight, he gets around Caulfield well and 1600 is going to suit him a lot better.

“The crucial part of the race will be coming to turn and Dwayne Dunn is going to have to plot a course off the rail.

“There will be nice speed up in front of him and he is just going to have to weave a path through the traffic.

“If he does that I think it will be plain sailing from that point on and I think that he is the bet of the day.”

Tivaci failed perform at his best in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 24, but Lester feels that the High Chaparral entire is worth of another opportunity at his Toorak Handicap odds of $12 with Ladbrokes.

“The big improver from that race could be Tivaci,” Lester said.

“He will appreciate getting to 1600 and they erred a little bit trying to ride him cold over the 1400.

“With the good speed on tomorrow, Tivaci can land that little bit off speed and when you line him up through a horse with Palentino he can measure up to a race like this.”

He’s Our Rokkii is currently available at 2016 Toorak Handicap odds of $2.90 with Ladbrokes.com.au and he is a clear favourite from Bon Aurum ($7), Royal Rapture ($8), Counterattack ($8), Thames Court ($9.50), Tivaci ($12) and Moral Victory ($13).
