Zoutenant Takes Out Wyong Magic Millions 2.y.o Classic

Talented colt Zoutenant has continued his impressive career start this afternoon, displaying a strong turn of foot in the final straight to take out the Wyong Magic Millions 2.y.o Classic (1200m).

Jumping from the gates well, Zoutenant settled in prime position on the heels of early leaders Moral Outrage, Chloe’s Comet and Fiery Redhead, who set a noticeably quick tempo away from the barriers and rounding the bend.

Pushing off the fence upon arriving on the final straight, the song of Zizou steadily spooled up and charged forward, hitting the front in the last 100m and withstanding a late charge from smart colt Surf Seeker; Single Glaze boxing on for third.

Trainer Kevin Moses was understandably pleased with Zoutenant’s performance for victory in the Wyong Magic Millions 2.y.o Classic, confirming a trip north for the Gold Coast Magic Millions 2.y.o Classic (1200m) in January will figure as the next point of call.

“I was very happy with him,” Moses said.

“I put blinkers on, I don’t like putting blinkers on them early but I thought the prize money is too good and ive just got to put them on now.

“He had a run the other day because I thought he needed to prize money to get into this race, but now he can go to the other Magic Millions and he’ll improve off that.

“It’s a very big win for us.”

Veteran jockey Glyn Schofield delivered a typically polished ride on Zoutenant for success in the Wyong Magic Millions 2.y.o Classic and revealed it was not all smooth sailing on the path to success.

“I was going to peel out and come around them and I felt like I was going to get a couple of runners tired if I continued on that path,” Schofield said immediately after dismounting.

“Then I could see Hughie (Bowman, Moral Outrage) dropping off outside the leader and a run presented itself outside Winona (Costin, Fiery Redhead) and he took the run.

“When I gave him a reminder behind the saddle he decided to shift ground instead of concentrating and run true and nearly gave it away but a good win.

“He’s probably won a little bit easier than the margin suggests.”

Ladbrokes Australia is currently offering Zoutenant at a generous quote of $11 for success in the 2015 Gold Coast Magic Millions 2.y.o Classic.
