Brilliant filly Zelady’s Night Out kept her unbeaten record intact with another all the way win in the Listed $100,000 The Groove Train Calaway Gal Stakes (1050m) at Doomben last Saturday.
Premier jockey Jim Byrne was able to settle Zelady’s Night Out in the lead again and once heads were turned for home he let her slip away to record a two and a quarter lengths win over Royal Tithe with River Racer in third spot.
The Tony Gollan trained filly was since out as the $1.80 favourite and never looked like letting her followers down at any stage.
At her previous start Zalady’s Night Out had also recorded a dominant four and a half lengths all the way win in a 1050m two year old Handicap at Doomben on November 14.
Byrne has been aboard Zelady’s Night Out for both her wins and expects further improvement from the brilliant filly as she heads towards the $2m Magic Millions 2yo Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast on January 9.
“She will definitely tighten up from that run,” Byrne said.
Gollan agrees with Byrne that Zalady’s Night Out will benefit greatly from last Saturday’s win but is still undecided if she will have another lead up run before the Magic Millions 2yo Classic.
“She had a bit of belly on her today but she got the job done in style. I think that run will tighten her up a lot and she should have no trouble with the 1200 metres of the Magic Millions Classic,” Gollan said after the race on Saturday.
“She had a little break at Washpool Lodge and we left some improvement in her.”
Gollan will finalised Zelady’s Night Out final Magic Millions preparation in the coming days and if he favours another lead up run before the Magic Millions 2yo Classic, he will run the brilliant filly in the Group 3 $150,000 B.J. McLachlan Stakes (1200m) at the Gold Coast on Boxing Day.
“We will sit back and have a good look at things. But we are in the great position of not having to rush her now she is definitely qualified for the Millions,” Gollan said.
“But she is the ideal two-year-old because she can jump well, take a position and then sprint in the straight”
