Juvenile Group 1 winner Yankee Rose will have one more trial before trainer David Vandyke decides if she makes her Spring Carnival debut in the Group 1 $1m Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill on September 10.

Yankee Rose was stepping out for the time in public since winning the Group 1 $1m Inglis Sires’ (1400m) at Randwick on April 2 when she ran fourth of five in an 850m Sunshine Coast barrier trial today.
While Vandyke didn’t want the All American filly to have a hard hit out, he said he didn’t learn much from today’s excursion.
“The jury’s out at the moment in terms of how she has come back,” Vandyke told racing.com.
“We didn’t learn much today but it wasn’t what we wanted to do either.”
“I was actually a little nervous going in to the trial because I didn’t want her to do too much and I knew Shamfrancisco would go quick and that may make her do more than I wanted.”
“The next trial is when we will have more of an idea of how she has come back this campaign.
“The plan is to go to Sydney but the next trial will decide that.”
Yankee Rose showed her class during the 2015 Sydney Autumn Carnival with an eye catching first up second to Capitalist in the Group 1 $3.5m Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on March 19 before landing Vandyke’s first Group 1 victory in the Inglis Sires.
Vandyke was then denied his second Group 1 trophy when Yankee Rose, who was a short priced favourite to win the Group 1 $500,000 Moet & Chandon Champagne Stakes (1600m) at Randwick a fortnight later, had to be scratched on race eve due to a hoof infection.
Vandyke is looking to have Yankee Rose ready to return to the race track in the Golden Rose Stakes with the Group 1 $500,000 Flight Stakes (1600m) for the fillies at Randwick her second up assignment.
A switch to Melbourne then for the Group 1 $3m Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 22 with the Group 1 $1m Crown Oaks (2500m) at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup Carnival also on the agenda.
Yankee Rose is very prominent in the market order for the Golden Rose Stakes and is on the second line of betting at $6 with Ladbrokes.com.au.
The Peter and Paul Snowden trained Capitalist is the current $4.40 favourite while Inglis Sires runner up Telperion is the third pick at $11.
