Short priced favourite Yankee Rose will have to undergo another vet check on Friday morning before being cleared to run in the Group 1 $500,000 Moet & Chandon Champagne Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Yankee Rose was inspected by Racing NSW Senior Official Veterinarian Dr C Suann at Warwick Farm today after trainer David Vandyke had reported that the filly had pulled a shoe off her off-fore hoof and was getting treatment to the near-fore hoof.

While Dr Suaan could not find any lameness in the off-fore, but reported that the filly was presenting a one out of five lameness in the near-fore hoof.

Vandyke had advised Racing New South Wales stewards that after Yankee Rose had completed her work this morning he applied a poultice too the near-fore hoof as a precaution and that he would swim her on Thursday and Friday, a similar routine he followed before she won the Group 1 $1m Inglis Sires’ (1400m) at Randwick on day one of ‘The Championships’ on April 2.

Vandyke also advised stewards that in his opinion Yankee Rose had shown signs of improvement since the initial report and that she would race with synthetic hoof filler in the off-fore hoof.

Yankee Rose is dominating the betting for the Champagne Stakes with Ladbrokes.com.au at $1.40 on the strength of her last start two and a half lengths win in the Inglis Sires’.

At her previous start the All American filly made up plenty of ground from midfield to run second to Capitalist in the Group 1 $3.5m Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on March 19.
