The daughter of Dubawi won on debut at Gawler before impressing with a comfortable three length victory in the Hamilton Holden Handicap (1000m) at Morphettville in May.

She was on track to travel to Melbourne for the Listed A.R. Creswick Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on June 8 but was struck down by a virus and trainer Sam Kavanagh was forced to send her to the paddock for a break.

Kavanagh is confident that she has recovered from the setback and is primed to run well on Saturday.

“Her work has been outstanding, she has come back terrific,” Kavanagh told Racing Ahead.

“She had a trial last Monday and ran about a second quicker than all the other trials and was super impressive.

“I couldn’t be happier with my filly and I think she is going to run very well.”

The Lightning Stakes has drawn a very strong field of two and three-year-olds with Kavanagh selecting Peter Moody-trained Thermal Current and last start winner Splash Of Moet as the biggest threats to his fillies chances in the black type race.

“It’s not an easy race as Thermal current is obviously a very promising horse who was pretty well favourite for the Blue Diamond before he was taken out and Splash of Moet was very good the other day and is probably the benchmark South Australian filly,” Kavanagh said.

“I am very confident that she will run top three.”

Kavanagh will decide on his future plans with the rising three-year-old after he sees how she performs on Saturday but he named the Group 3 Sheraco Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on September 14 and the Group 3 Research Stakes (formerly known as the Golden Pendant) (1400m) at the same venue a fortnight later as his ultimate Spring Racing Carnival goals for Words Are Weapons.

“I would like to get her competing in those sorts of races if she is up to the grade and get some stakes places, which with her pedigree will be very good for the breeders,” the rising trainer said.

Words Are Weapons is set to be Kavanagh’s last runner in Adelaide as he is relocating his stable to New South Wales for the upcoming season.
