Witchlike and Lake Geneva were the standout performers in the fifth barrier trial at Warwick Farm this morning.

Witchlike jumped from the gates quickly in the early stages of the barrier trial over 800 metres and she took up the running, while Lake Geneva was settled in fourth position just behind the leading group.
Godolphin filly Calaverite looked as though she was going to challenge Witchlike for the lead, but the Mark de Montfort-trained juvenile kicked away at the top of the straight and opened up a big gap on the rest of the field before Lake Geneva hit the line strongly despite being kept under a stranglehold throughout.
Witchlike made her racing debut with a sixth place finish behind Raphael’s Cat in the Place Multi Maiden Plate (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens on February 25 and she failed to fire in the Hawkesbury Race Club Motel Maiden at Hawkesbury on March 10, but she looks to have returned as a much quicker racehorse.
Lake Geneva was making her first public appearance since she finished an unlucky third behind Ottoman in the Group 3 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on April 11 and is working towards a 2015 Spring Racing Carnival campaign that will include a tilt at the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on September 12.
The Fastnet Rock filly made her racing debut with a close second behind Fireworks in the Group 3 Widden Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens on January 31 and she was sent to Melbourne where she finished third in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 28.
Lake Geneva hit the line strongly to finish third in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 21 before her unlucky third place finish in the Percy Sykes Stakes.
Calaverite is another rising three-year-old that performed fairly in the fifth barrier trial of the morning and she looks to have grown slightly heading towards the spring.
The Lonhro filly stamped herself as a horse to watch when she took out the Listed Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) at Royal Randwick on October 4 last year, but she did not have a great deal of luck in the early stages of her autumn campaign before she returned to winning form with a dominant display in the Listed Penang Pearl (1200m) at Moonee Valley on March 20 and finished a close second in the Percy Sykes Stakes.
Lake Geneva is currently available at 2015 Golden Rose Stakes odds of $15, while Calaverite is available at the lengthy quote of $51.
