Premiership winning trainer Peter Moody is convinced that Winx will win her third Group 1 $3m Ladbrokes Cox Plate (2040m) at The Valley on Saturday but added that her rivals will be running for some healthy minor prizemoney.

Moody is now retired from the rigors of horse training but is well credentials to talk about the Chris Waller trained super star Winx after preparing the mighty mare Black Caviar who was undefeated from twenty-five starts.

Winx is lining up for her twenty-second straight win and a third consecutive Ladbrokes Cox Plate victory and currently dominates the betting at $1.16 with Ladbrokes.com.au and while she will probably pick up another $1.8 million winning cheque for her connections, the runner up will collect a cool $540,000 while the third placegetter will bank $270,000.

“It’s (Cox Plate victory) a foregone conclusion unless something leads to her unforeseen demise, and that’s the last anyone wants to see,” Moody told the Herald Sun.

“But you’ve got to take her on and you just can’t shy away from one horse.

“If horses have been aimed for it, you’ve got to have a go.

“There’s terrific prizemoney on offer for second, third and fourth.”

A win in the 2017 Ladbrokes Cox Plate will take Winx’s Group 1 winning tally to fifteen and her total prizemoney to $15,577,925.

Some of the likely rivals for Winx in Saurday’s Ladbrokes Cox Plate are the Darren Weir trained Ladbrokes Stakes winner Gailo Chop, Epsom Handicap winner Happy Clapper, three year old Royal Symphony and English raiders Folkswood and Kapersky.

Winx has strung together twenty-one consecutive wins, her last two at Group 1 level in the $500,000 Colgate Optic White Stakes (George Main Stakes) (1600m) at Randwick on September 16 and in the $500,000 Seppelt Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on October 7.

Early market order for the 2017 Ladbrokes Cox Plate at Ladbrokes.com.au: $1.16 Winx, $17 Folkswood, Gailo Chop, Happy Clapper, $21 Royal Symphony, $34 Aloisia, Humidor, Johannes Vermeer, The Taj Mahal, $41 Bonneval, $51 or better the rest.
