History making mare Winx heads up the list of first acceptances for the Group 1 $4m Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on day two of The Championships on April 14.

Sixty-four horses are left in contention for $4m weight for age contest after first acceptances were take on Tuesday.

Winx remains the short priced favourite for the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at $1.20 with Ladbrokes.com.au and is one of fifteen horses from the Chris Waller stable still in the running.

Winx returned for the 2018 Autumn Carnival at Randwick on Saturday in dynamic form with a runaway seven lengths victory over Prized Icon in the Group 1 $600,000 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) on March 3 which took her overall wins to twenty-seven, her unbeaten run to twenty-three and her Group 1 wins to sixteen.

Japanese imports Admire Winner and Satano Rasen are among Waller’s first acceptances as well as Group 1 winners Egg Tart, Foxplay and Shillelagh and the well performer Tom Melbourne, Comin’ Through and D’Argento.

Group 1 winners Gailo Chop, Humidor and Tosen Stardom are among leading Victorian trainer Darren Weir’s five first acceptances and are joined by three year olds Peaceful State and Cliff’s Edge.

Leading Newcastle trainer Kris Lees also has strength in numbers with eight horses still in the running for the Queen Elizabeth Stakes with Prized Icon leading the troops.

The in-form Lindsay Park Team only have three first acceptors for the Queen Elizabeth Stakes with Australian Cup winner and third placegetter Harlem and Ventura Storm as well as Poetic Dream.

Cambridge trainers Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman lead the Kiwi assault with Francaletta, Lizzie L’Amour and Mission Hill.

Godolphin’s Group 1 flagbearer Hartnell in the lone first acceptor from the James Cummings stable while trainer Pat Webster has kept the dream alive with last Saturday’s Canterbury Stakes winner Happy Clapper still in contention for the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Final acceptances for thee 2018 Queen Elizabeth Stakes will be taken on Tuesday, April 10, 2018.
