Winning Rupert kept his unbeaten record intact with a five and three quarter lengths trouncing of his opposition in the $100,000 QTIS 3yo Plate (1200m) last Saturday with the in-form Jeff Lloyd in the saddle and is now the $3.40 favourite for the Magic Millions 3yo Guineas at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott’s dual Group 1 winner Global Glamour is the second pick at $3.80 ahead of the Darren Weir trained three time winner Speedeor at $7.50.

Winning Rupert made it three wins from three starts last Saturday and was having his first run back from a spell which followed his win in the Group 2 $175,000 Moet & Chandon Champagne Classic (1200m) at Doomben on May 14.

The Bjorn Baker trained colt’s other win was when he scored on debut in a 1000m two year old Plate at the Sunshine Coast on April 23.

Winning Rupert went into last Saturday’s race with three barrier trials under his belt and Baker expects the Written Tycoon colt to strip even fitter when he lines up in the Listed $100,000 Gold Edition Plate (1200m) at Doomben on December 17.

“I thought he came back a bit bigger and better this preparation but race day is the true test so it was good to see him do that,” Baker said.

“He’s definitely shown us that he’s come back at least as good if not better than when he went out after last preparation and I’m sure he’ll be better with the first up run under his belt.”

As well as chasing the rich Magic Millions 3yo Guineas prize, Winning Rupert is also on track to win a $500,000 bonus that the Brisbane Racing Club has on offer if he can win the two remaining legs of the three year old series, the Gold Edition Plate and the Group 3 $200,000 Vo Rogue Plate (1300m) at Eagle Farm on December 31.

Global Glamour is back in work following a short spell she earned after winning the Group 1 $500,000 Schweppes Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 8 which came a week after the Star Witness filly won the Group 1 $500,000 Sydney Airport Flight Stakes (1600m) at Randwick.

Early market order for the Magic Millions 3yo Guineas at Ladbrokes.com.au: $3.40 Winning Rupert, $3.80 Global Glamour, $7.50 Speedeor, $13 Mediterranean, $15 Miss Wonderland, Niccolance, $17 Billy The Kid, Scarlet Rain, Tiyatrolani, Vivaldi’s Quest, $21 Candika, Faraway Town, Pipeline, $26 Heart Skipt A Beat, Redouble, $34 or better the rest.
