Perfect Reflection will defend her unbeaten record in the 2016 The Vanity at Flemington tomorrow and trainer Darren Weir is very happy with the condition of the star filly ahead of her Melbourne racing debut.

Perfect Reflection was the star galloper of the 2015 Perth Summer Racing Carnival and she took out the Listed Belgravia Stakes (1200m) as well as the Group 3 Western Australian Championship Stakes (1600m) before she narrowly denied Delicacy in the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) at Ascot on December 5.
The daughter of More Than Ready was sent to Weir for her autumn campaign and the leading trainer told Racing Ahead that he is delighted with the three-year-old filly ahead of The Vanity this weekend.
“She came to my place in fantastic order and I have just kept her ticking along,” Weir said.
“Her work at home suggests what her form is like, she is a very good track worker and when you look at her form you would expect her to work like that.
“She looks fantastic, she had a quite trial where she just poked around and she had a good solid trial and hit the line really well.
“She had a good solid half-mile gallop on Tuesday morning and looked to work really well, so I think she is in the right sort of order.
“She just needs a run before heading to the Guineas and hopefully she runs really well and we can head on to the next step.”
While Weir is thrilled with the condition of Perfect Reflection, he admits that barrier one is not ideal for the filly and she will likely need some luck in running to take out The Vanity.
Perfect Reflection has generally been ridden at the tail of the field throughout her racing career to date and Weir said that he is worried she won’t get the chance to wind in the final stages of the race.
“She is obviously a good horse, but the barrier draw is probably a little bit tricky because she is a get back horse,” Weir said.
“She is a wind-up horse and she is not a sit and sprint horse, but I am happy with the way that she is going and where we are heading.
“Hopefully I don’t stuff it up I guess.”
Perfect Reflection is currently available at 2016 The Vanity odds of $2.30 with Ladbrokes and is a clear favourite from Jameka ($3.80), Don’t Doubt Mamma ($6), Sacred Eye ($6.50) and Alaskan Rose ($9).
