Waterhouse had purchased thirty-seven yearlings so far half way through the third day of the Sales and out-bidded Sydney trainer Gerald Ryan when she went to $1m for the colt out of Encosta De Lago mare Hades who is a daughter of 2002-2003 champion two year old filly Hasna.

Hasna was a two time Group 1 winner as a two year old with Waterhouse preparing her to win the Sires’ Produce Stakes and the Champagne Stakes and earning almost $1.3m in prizemoney.

After the bidding kicked off at $400,000, it quickly increased to $600,000 in $100,000 bids then slowed to $50,000 increases to $900,000 then with another bid moved to $950,000 before Waterhouse had the final say at $1 million.

With a buzz still hanging around the auditorium, and only four lots later through the ring, Tom Magnier from Coolmore  paid $700,000 for Lot 439, a Fastnet Rock filly out of the Charge Forward Group 1 winning mare Headway.

Bidding rose from $200,000 to $300,000 before jumping up in $50,000 bids before Maginer secured the well bred filly.
