Giulietta has shown a lot of natural ability in her four race starts to date with one win at Rosehill in January and Waterhouse is confidence that the Snitzel filly will build up in stamina as she matures.

“She was a very fast early two-year-old, but she just lacked that killer punch,” Waterhouse wrote on her blog.

“She could fly along, but I needed to get more stamina into her makeup.”

Waterhouse claims to have done just that with last start winner Kimberley Star, Speak Fondly and Flamboyant Lass.

“I think I have done it and like Kimberley Star, who by the way I think might win again on Saturday, together with Speak Fondly and Flamboyant Lass.”

Waterhouse says that Giulietta has been one of the star workers for Tulloch Lodge since returning from a spell and is set to barrier trial at Randwick on Friday along with a host of potential Spring stars.

“One of the real stars of trackwork of late has been Giulietta who I am proud to say has spelled exactly how I wanted her to,” Waterhouse said.

“The tough Aussie soil allows horses to strengthen while on holiday, and strengthen is exactly what I needed Giulietta to do.”

The Snitzel filly won on debut with an all the way victory in a 1100m Rosehill two year old race and then Waterhouse quickly stepped her up to Stakes company at her next start.

Giulietta showed her customary speed and battled on in the straight to only be beaten one and a half lengths when sixth to Fireworks  in the Group 3 $150,000 Widden Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on January 31.

At her next start the filly raced on the pace again before finishing fourth to Haptic in the Listed $125,000 DX Solutions Lonhro Plate (1100m) at Randwick on February 14 and then Waterhouse sent her for a spell after finishing last of nine in the Group 2 $300,000 Guinness Reisling Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on March 7.

Giuietta will go around in a 740m heat for two year old fillies on Friday and is one of twenty-five horses Waterhouse has nominated for the trials.

Golden Slipper Stakes winner Vancouver will also be stepping out on Friday along with Group 1 winners Pornichet, The Offer, Amanpour and Cosmic Endeavour.
