Waller’s Kingdom To Take Shape On Saturday

My Kingdom Of Fife

My Kingdom Of Fife will resume for the spring at Randwick

My Kingdom Of Fife will make his comeback for the spring this weekend when he contests the Chelmsford Stakes at Randwick over 1600m.

It will be a race well represented by the Chris Waller stable with three others also set to fly the flag for his table.

Illustrious Blue, Hawk Island, and Stand To Gain are all part of the nominations as Waller looks to build his team for this year’s Cup’s circuit.

My Kingdom Of Fife was one of the sensations of the Autumn carnival in Sydney winning at 150 to 1 on debut before going on for a string of Group triumphs.

His last start was in Brisbane at the Doomben Cup in May where he finished second and he’s coming into the Chelmsford off two barrier trials.

Going straight to the mile first up isn’t expected to be much of a drama given it was the 1600m of the Doncaster Prelude which he won over first up back in April.

“I’d say he’s at the same level of fitness now as he was going into the Doncaster Prelude,” Waller said.

“I’d like to get him to Melbourne sooner rather than later but a lot hinges on the weather. I’m still not sure what his grand final is this spring. The Cox Plate is still a big option.”

The Chelmsford isn’t the only race this weekend where Waller will be well represented, the Tramway Stakes another he has targeted strongly.

Triple Elegance, Pressday and Syreon will all run in that event as they build their campaigns probably to a limit of a mile.

One star that won’t be inaction for Waller this weekend though is the barnstorming Foreteller, in a bid to stretch out his campaign this spring he won’t race again until The Shorts on September 17.
