Waller stress free with Winx going into Caulfield Stakes

Champion trainer Chris Waller is stress free with Winx as she lines up for her twelfth win on the trot in the Group 1 $600,000 Ladbrokes Caulfield Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield today.

Waller couldn’t find any down sides with Winx only having to face up to two opponents in Ladbrokes Caulfield Stakes, the Darren Weir trained mutiple Group 1 winner Black Heart Bart and Group 1 bridesmaid He Or She.

“What am I going to stress about going into this race,” Waller told RSN’s Racing Ahead.

“Normally it is bad draws, bad tracks, luck in running. You name it you can find something every time.”

“All of a sudden you see a three horse field you say gee, how is this going to unfold.”

“Not too worried about it. Each horse should get their own chance that’s for sure.”

The Caulfield track for today’s Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas Day is rated a good 3 with the rail in the true position for the entire course.

But Waller did add that his only concern is if Winx does get beaten.

“Only (concern) if we get beaten,” Waller said.

Waller said that the race will just unfold by itself and all he can do is present Winx in good condition.

“I have found that you over analyse and even over train horses and put too much pressure on jockeys and staff, you don’t really get the result you want,” Waller said.

“You just let it unfold and that what makes the great horses, they adapt themselves and realistically Chris Waller has probably no bearing on Winx’s career what so ever.

“She is a super star horse and we get her there in a reasonably fitness and she does the rest.”

Winx is the winner of fifteen of her twenty-one race starts, her last eleven without being defeated, but has only raced once south of the New South Wales border for a dominant win in the Group 1 $3m Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley during the 2015 Melbourne Spring Carnival.

Winx has had two Spring Carnival runs in Sydney for a three and a half lengths win over Hartnell in the Group 2 $250,000 Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on August 20 followed by a one and a quarter lengths win over Hauraki in the Group 1 $500,000 Colgate Optic White Stakes (George Main Stakes) (1600m) at Randwick on September 17.

Regular rider Hugh Bowman is aboard Winx again in the Ladbrokes Caulfield Stakes and the mighty mare will jump from the outside gate in the three horse field.

Betting on the Ladbrokes Caulfield Stakes at Ladbrokes.com.au is virtually at a standstill with Winx dominating at $1.20 ahead of Black Heart Bart at $4.60 and Head Or She at $26.
