Sydney’s premier trained Chris Waller has seven horses listed in the nominations for the Group 1 $500,000 Yellowglen Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on Sunday.

The Victoria Racing Club has been rewarded with massive nominations throughout the entire day with the Turnbull Stakes receiving twenty-four entries.
Grand mare Royal Descent and Victoria Derby winner Preferment head Waller’s team that also includes Beaten Up, Grand Marshall, Junoob, Weary and Who Shot Thebarman.
Royal Descent was back in the winner’s list three starts back taking out the Group 2 $250,000 Pro-Ride Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on August 22 before running third to Complacent in the Group 2 $250,000 Tattersalls Club Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) on September 5 and then two weeks later ran second to Kermadec in the Group 1 $500,000 Colgate Optic White George Main Stakes (1600m) at Randwick.
Preferment collected his first winning cheque since the 2014 Group 1 $1.5m AAMI Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington when he beat Magic Hurricane in the Group 2 $200,000 Ascend Sales Trophies Hill Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on September 19.
John O’Shea has nominated The BMW winner Hartnell and the promising stayer Hauraki.
English import Hartnell proved himself at weight for age with a win in the Group 1 $1.5m The BMW (2400m) at Rosehill during the Sydney Autumn Carnival earlier in the year and perfomed fairly first up with a fourth to Complacent in the Group 2 $250,000 Tattersalls Club Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on September 5.
Hauraki also performed well in the Autumn with a second to Mongolian Khan in the Group 1 $2m BMW Australian Derby (2400m) at Randwick.
The Reset four year old hs had two Spring runs over unsuitable shorter distances, including a last start seventh to Kermadec in the George Main Stakes.
Lucia Valentina from the Kris Lees stable is among the nominations for the Turnbull Stakes but is most likely to run at Randwick on Saturday in the Group 1 $1m The Star Epsom (1600m).
Last year’s Melbourne Cup winner Protectionist, also from the Lees stable has been entered for the Turnbull Stakes.
Former Kiwi trained mare Rising Romance, now trained at Lindsay Park by David Hayes and Tom Dabernig, will be considered as one of the main chances on Sunday after running an impressive second to Fawkner in the Group 1 $400,000 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on September 12.
Hayes and Dabernig have also nominated the ever consistent Australian Cup runner up Extra Zero.
Other notable entries for the Turnbull Stakes are the multiple Group 1 winner Happy Trails, the promising Alpine Eagle, Crown Oaks winner Set Square and Irish import The United States.
