Kermadec was originally included in the entries for the Royal Randwick barrier trials that were scheduled to be held this morning and have now been postponed to Monday, but he is more likely to make his first public appearance in a barrier trial over 900 metres next Tuesday.

The Teofilo colt has not been seen at the races since he recorded an impressive victory in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Royal Randwick on April 6 and he is working towards a 2015 Spring Racing Carnival campaign that could include a tilt at both the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Royal Randwick on October 3 and the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 4.

Kermadec will be joined in the third barrier trial of the morning by stablemate Preferment, who has not been seen at the races since he failed to fire as favourite in the Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m) at Royal Randwick on April 6.

Preferment stamped himself as a stayer to follow when he took out the Group 1 Victoria Derby (2500m) during the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival, but he made a slow start to his autumn preparation in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on February 21 and the Group 1 Royal Randwick Guineas (1600m) on March 7.

The son of Zabeel returned to his best form with a very close second behind Volkstok’N’Barrell in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) on March 21, but he was not able to replicate that performance in the Australian Derby.

Another rising four-year-old that is set to contest the third barrier trial of the morning is Peter Moody-trained Hi World, who is set to be given the chance to compete at the highest level of racing during the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival.

Hi World earnt a shot at Group level after he took out the Tab.Com.Au Handicap (1600m) at Warwick Farm on March 25 and he claimed victory in the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick on April 6 before he took out the Group 3 Frank Packer Plate (2000m) at the same venue on April 18.

Kermadec is currently available at 2015 Cox Plate odds of $13, while Hi World is at a quote of $34 to deliver Peter Moody his maiden Cox Plate victory.
