Waller and Begg not worried about a wet Rosehill track

Two trainers who won’t be worried about the wet track conditions at Rosehill tomorrow are Chris Waller and Grahame Begg, both with a runner in the Group 1 $400,000 Inglis Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1500m).

Waller will saddle up wet track specialist Red Tracer while Begg is very confident that Secret Admirer will have no trouble handling the rain affected track.

“She doesn’t mind it wet so I’m not complaining about the rain, and we’ve had a lot of it too,” Begg said.

“It shouldn’t bother her, she seems to handle the wet OK.

“She’s in good shape too, ready to go,” Begg added.

Secret Admirer’s two Group 1 victories, The Flight Stakes and the Epsom, were on a dead track and she has been placed on a heavy, giving Begg plenty of confidence after the five year old mare impressed with a first-up fifth to Pierro in the Group 1 $350,000 Cellarbrations Canterbury Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill on March 23.

Waller will accept the heavy track conditions with a smile, knowing that his mare Red Tracer in unbeaten from six starts on slow or heavy tracks, but still rates the Gai Waterhouse trained More Joyous the toughest to beat.

More Joyous has four wins from five starts on a slow track but has no placings from two attempts on a heavy.

“Outside of More Joyous, and Gai might not run her on a very wet track, it is a very even race and I’m sure it will be a good contest,” Waller said.

“Red Tracer came through her second in the Coolmore really well and the most important thing for her about the track being rain affected is that the barrier draw isn’t as significant.”

“She ran a career best race on a good track last start but see can handle the wet tracks well whereas the others can’t.”

Red Tracer is racing in the best form of her career, scoring two runs back on a heavy track in the Group 3 $125,000 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill on March 2 before getting beaten a whisker by Appearance on top of the ground in the Group 1 $600,000 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill on March 23.

The Guy Walter trained Appearance won’t be disadvantaged on a wet track with two wins from three goes on the heavy while stable mate Streama also has winning wet track form.

More Joyous has shown in previous years that her Autumn form is second to none and the great mare is on track to make it her third Queen Of The Turf victory in as many years after a gallant first-up second to her high profile stablemate Pierro in the Canterbury Stakes.

More Joyous is a dominant favourite at $1.50 with Red Tracer the next in the betting at $6.50 with Appearance at $10 and Secret Admirer a $12 chance.
