The Mike Moroney stable thinks that eight year old Wall Street still has plenty to offer at the highest level heading into Saturday’s Group 1 $500,000 GR Engineering Kingston Town Classic (1800m) at Ascot.

Wall Street hasn’t saluted since winning the Group 1 $1m Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington during the 2010 Melbourne Spring Carnival but is still racing competitively at Group 1 level.

“He might be eight years old, but he hasn’t had a lot of racing and he’s still got plenty to offer,” said Moroney’s racing manager Anthony Feroce.

The eight year old was third first up to Fawkner in the Group 3 $250,000 TAB.com.au Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on November 3 then finished just behind the placegetters when fifth to Happy Trails in the this year’s Emirates Stakes.

Then Moroney shipped Wall Street over to the west for the Festival Of Perth Racing and was beaten less than two and a half lengths when eighth to Mr Moet in the Group 1 $1m Carlton Draught-Railway Stakes (1600m) at Ascot on November 24.

“He was very unlucky in the Railway Stakes over there being held up at a crucial stage and was only beaten two lengths,” Feroce said.

Steven Arnold will be back aboard Wall Street after riding him two starts back in the Emirates and takes over the reins from Kerrin McEvoy who rode him in the Railway Stakes last start.

Moroney hasn’t decided if Wall Street will stay on in Perth for another run after the Kingston Town but is keen to see the old stager compete at the Autumn or Winter Carnivals next year.

“Mike thinks he’s a sound, capable horse at the highest level so he’s planning on giving him another preparation after Perth,” Feroce said.

Jarrad Noske has picked up the ride on the Daniel Morton trained Belora in the Kingston Town Classic after being replaced on Maschino by comeback jockey Kyra Yuill.

Yuill has only recently returned to race riding after suffering serious injuries in a race fall at Belmont Park in September and was the regular rider for Maschino last Summer and in the Autumn.

Noske then took over the riding duties on the Graham Yuill trained five year old and was successful two starts back in the Group 3 $125,000 R.J. Peters Stakes (1500m) at Ascot on November 17 before the pair finished ninth in the Railway Stakes.

Wall Street is at $13 in the early market for the Kingston Town Classic which sees local hero Luckygray the $2.80 favourite with the other local chance Playing God at $5.50.

Ranger is next in the betting at $9 with Railway Stakes winner Mr Moet, and third placegetter Rosie Rocket and three year old filly Fuddle Dee Duddle all at $13.

Maschino is out to $41 while Belora is one of the outsiders of the field at $101.
