Vinery Stud loses Typhoon tracy

Multiple Group 1 winner Tyhpoon Tracy died while diving birth to her first foal at Vinery Stud on Monday morning.

Crowned Australian horse of the year in the 2009-2010 season, Typhoon Tracy was retired after winning her sixth Group 1 and second $400,000 Sportingbet C.F. Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on February 12, 2011.

The Red Ransom mare was one of trainer Peter Moody’s favourite horses and her list of Group 1 wins included the Coolmore Classic (1500m), Myer Classic (1600m), Futurity Stakes (1600m) and the Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1500m).

Typhoon Tracy died after giving birth to a healthy colt by top sire Street Cry and Vinery will sadly miss the top class mare.

“Tracy passed away quietly following a straight forward foaling from a suspected ruptured broad ligament.” said Vinery Stud’

“Typhoon Tracy’s dam Tracy’s Element, now 22 years of age, was born and reared here and the family has been an integral part of the farm for years.”

Tracy’s Element was a winner of four Group 1 races and a Group 2 race in South Africa and is by top sire Last Tycoon and returned to Australia to go to stud.
