You’ll have to wait until the last race of the day at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday but it may well be worth it to catch a glimpse of one of the real likeable gallopers kicking around at the moment.

Into The Sun is the type of horse every trainer would love to have in the stable, every owner wants a piece of and one punters don’t mind either.

He’s only won around $130,000 in prize money working his way through the lower grades but this Saturday he gets his chance at metro level in the North Sydney Handicap.

Into The Sun last started at Morphettville Park where he outgunned the local field to win a Benchmark 86 in Adelaide.

Previous to that he won twice at the Geelong Synthetic Track and also ran two seconds on the country circuit.

Now six years old he’s racing the best he has in his career and trainer Malcolm Carson has a real ace up his sleeve leading into tomorrow.

While many trainers are cautiously watching the weather hoping for an ideal track, whether it’s soaking wet or done dry it’s not going to worry Into The Sun.

” He’s very versatile this horse, he’s one of these horses that’s rare, he can win on a heavy 10 or a good 3,” he said.

This is a massive advantage given Rosehill could realistically be anywhere from a heavy to a dead by the time the last jumps tomorrow afternoon.

Another big plus is the fact he drops in weight to 55kg, a luxury he can’t enjoy at the provincials.

“He hasn’t seen 55 for a long time, he’s been carrying 58s and 59s,” Carson said.

” The race suits him, it’s very hard t find a 0-80 around here.”

His overall career record shows 32 starts for 9 wins and seven placings, but Carson is only concerned about how his recent form and on paper it stacks up quite well.

” He’s taken a little bit of time, he’s now six and he’s doing his best work,” he said.

He will jump from barrier three in a  field of 13 tomorrow and will be ridden by veteran jockey Rodney Quinn over the 1350m trip.
