Windsor Park Stud in New Zealand announced today that the Chris Waller trained Vanbrugh will join the stallion roster beside multiple Group 1 winner Turn Me Loose and the well performed Rageese for the upcoming breeding season.

“The important thing with Vanbrugh, Rageese and Turn Me Loose is they all possessed huge talent from day one and they’ve all competed successfully at the highest level in Australia,” stud principal Rodney Schick told the New Zealand Racing Desk.

“They are outstanding types with pedigrees to match and now, with the recent announcements around boosted prizemoney, Windsor Park are excited to offer breeders three new high-class stallion prospects.”

Vanbrugh is among the nominations for the weight for age Doomben Cup and in early markets at Ladbrokes.com.au is listed as a $13 chance with the Doncaster Mile winner It’s Somewhat heading the betting at $4.50 just ahead of the Waller trained McCreery at $6.50.

Vanbrugh will head to Brisbane following a light 2017 Autumn Carnival campaign that saw him run sixth to Happy Clapper in the Group 3 $150,000 Coca-Cola Newcastle Newmarket Handicap (1400m) at Newcastle on March 17 followed by a fourth to Fabrizio in the Group 3 $200,000 Livamol Hawkesbury Gold Cup (1600m) at Hawkesbury on April 29.

“You haven’t seen him racing through the autumn carnival because there weren’t enough good tracks about,” Waller said.

The Encosta De Lago stallion claimed his one Group 1 trophy during his three year old season with a win in the $500,000 Moet & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick during the 2015 Sydney Spring Carnival.

Vanbrugh is a winner of five of his twenty-one race starts with his latest win being in the Group 3 $150,000 Priceline Pharmacy Coongy Cup (2000m) at Caulfield during last year’s Melbourne Spring Carnival.

Early market order for the Doomben Cup at Ladbrokes.com.au: $4.50 It’s Somewhat, $6.50 McCreery, $8 Single Gaze, $9 Sense Of Occasion, $11 Articus, Mime, $13 Amelie’s Star, Vanbrugh, Ventura Storm, $15 Preferment, Star Exhibit, $17 Cylinder Beach, Happy Hannah, Maurus, Sons Of John, $21 Life Is Ordinary,, $26 or better the rest.
