Co-trainer Craig Widdison has revealed that the 2015 Vain Stakes at Caulfield on August 15 could be on the agenda for rising three-year-old Green Card.

Green Card made his racing debut with an unlucky effort in the CRT Whites Wires Plate (1000m) at Moonee Valley on December 12 and he failed to fire when fourth behind Parcel in a maiden over 900 metres at Bendigo on December 21.
The All American colt returned to racing with a dominant victory over 1100 metres at Bendigo on June 11 and he stamped himself as a genuine 2015 Spring Racing Carnival contender when he scored a dominant four lengths victory in the Ted Rainford Plate (1100m) at Caulfield on July 4.
Widdison told Racing Ahead this morning that the stable has always had a very high opinion of Green Card and he confirmed that the talented colt would be set for a race like the Vain Stakes when he returns to full-time work in about a fortnight.
“He has pulled up a treat and you wouldn’t know that he has been around,” Widdison said.
“He is in good order.
“We have always had a fairly big opinion of him – even last time in we went to the Valley last start and he missed the kick and then got smashed a bit out of the gate, but we were never disappointed with him and he has always shown us a lot here.
“He will have two weeks just going through the water walker and out to the paddock during the day and then we will get serious with him again and possibly head towards a race like the Vain Stakes or one of those three-year-old options early.”
Eloping has been the standout performer for the Morgan and Widdison stable over the past two years and the speedy filly is now back in pre-training ahead of a potential spring campaign.
Widdison said that the stable had yet to put together any plans for Eloping this preparation and he revealed that the daughter of Choisir could be sold in the next few months.
“There’s been a little interest in her to be sold at some stage,” Widdison said.
“She’s come back really well, she’s strengthened up and she’s in good order.
“We’ll just try to win a race basically, she becomes very hard to place.
“We’ll just play it by ear – hopefully win one and then kick along to something stronger that way.”
Eloping has recorded six wins from her 16 race starts to date and she has accumulated over $1 million in prizemoney for connections.
