Smart mare Vain Queen is one of several well fancies runners that Caulfield trainer John Sadler will saddle up at Flemington on Saturday.

Vain Queen, with Katelyn Mallyon taking over from Kayla Nisbet, has been well supported in the $80,000 All Victorian Sprint Series Heat 8 (1100m) and is now challenging the Stephen Brown trained The Thief for favouritism.
The last start Moonee Valley winner has firmed into $4.40 with Ladbrokes.com.au, only 20 cents behind the $4.20 favourite The Thief.
Even though Vain Queen scored a one and a half length win against the mares in the $100,000 Dominant Handicap (1200m) at Moonee Valley on June 7, Sadler still feels the Artie Schiller mare has to continue to improve to be a force at Flemington on Saturday as well as in the Listed $150,000 All Victorian Sprint Series Final (1200m) at Flemington on July 12
“It’s a handy field and she needs to pull something out of the bag,” Sadler told Racing Victoria News.
“She’d want to improve a couple of lengths on Moonee Valley to be able to win this race.
“She’s going to have to run really well in this to have a crack at the Listed race at Flemington in a fortnight.”
Vain Queen was having her third back from a spell at Moonee Valley and has shown progressive improvement since she won her maiden as a three year old by five and a half lengths at Ballarat in April last year.
The four year old mare has been a good money spinner for connections and has collected over $260,000 in prizemoney from five wins from only seven starts.
Sadler will also saddle up short priced favourite Charmed Harmony who has been marked at $1.95 to win the $100,000 David Bourke Provincial Plate (1610m).
Charmed Harmony, to be ridden by Glen Boss, is stepping up to Saturday class after scoring a runaway eight lengths win over 1400m in a BenchMark75 Handicap at Sandown on June 11.
Boss will also be aboard Henwood for Sadler and he is also well fancied at $7 in the $80,000 VRC-CRV Winter Championship Series Heat 6 (1410m).
